Update on Pat - 7/21/2011

I can't believe that it has been just over 6 weeks since mom was checked into the hospital for emergency heart surgery. My at how time flies. Another great saying is "that time heals all wounds." I don't know just how true this statement is but for some reason we say it and it makes us feel better. Anyway, I digress. You didn't come here to read my rambling. You are more interested in Pat's status.

Many of you have seen Pat at church or out and about at various times and you know (pardon the repeated information here) she is doing amazingly well. For those of you who have not seen her recently, just know this. From the ICU to living a normal healthy life in 6 weeks, it is truly amazing to see how well she is progressing. Recovery is a little slower than she would like. Tiredness come upon her a little more often that she would like, but she is improving daily and she looks phenomenal considering the trauma that her body faced weeks ago.

She had a recent doctor's appointment where the doctor said, "Pat, you are not supposed to look this good as a patient who had the kind of surgery that you had." Let this be a testimony to the fact that, Pat is an incredibly strong and stubborn woman who can not be kept down.

These are two characteristics that the patient care team at the hospital continuously mentioned to us. They also said that they know who will be the rapid healers because of the family and friends of each patient around them while they are in the hospital. As much as she had family and friends surrounding her, she was destined to recover successfully.

Pat asked me to let you know that she is so thankful for each of you, for your prayers and for your encouragement. When you think of her, she simply asks that you continue to pray for her continued recovery so that she can get back to 100% capacity.

You are great friends and family. God bless you for your kind thoughts and prayers.

Stephen
